Fashion and lifestyle brand STEL launches under Creative Director, Astrid Andersen.
On Wednesday 7 August 2024, the Fashion and Lifestyle brand STEL launched under Creative Director, Astrid Andersen.
Marking Andersen’s next chapter, 3 years after her namesake brand, Astrid Andersen, the launch exported Andersen’s 2.0 design ideology of empowered, inclusive design on a global stage.
The origin of the name STEL – meaning ’Body’ in Danish – connects to STELs ambition and visual language of creating collectible fundamental structures: a new foundation.
Andersen believes that clothes should work for the wearer – movement, agency, and empowerment are the stronghold premises of the brand.
Inspired by a fusion of design, art, architecture, and Andersen’s Scandinavian background, the intuitive, inclusive design, artful attention to detail, exceptionally high-quality materials, and precise proportions create softly powerful shapes, with built-in flex and adaptability to both naturally empower the wearer and support STELs lifetime-wear ambition.
STELs CPHFW Launch Presentation was held at, ‘The Krane’, a former industrial coal crane in a Copenhagen harbour, turned luxury retreat. The structure’s unique industrial homage attracted Andersen to the Krane as the location for STELs inaugural showcase.
STELs key categories focus on fresh takes across Denim, Tailoring, and Outerwear. Collection 01 offers fresh silhouettes across shirts and blouses, engineered with precise tailoring and finished with thoughtful details like the Boxy Short-Sleeved Poplin Shirt, featuring a unique curved hem for a flattering fit, and the Double-Layered Shirt, crafted in a sustainable and soft, Cotton-Lyocell-mix, press button shoulder finish and a fluid easy-wear style for a lifestyle in movement.
“This is tailoring you can skate in, denim you can dance in and shirting you can travel in.” — Astrid Andersen
Softly powerful t-shirt shapes, created with luxurious yet sustainable fabrics and super-fine knits with built-in flex and adaptability naturally support the wearer. While trousers and denim, including the Wide-leg Sculptured Denim Trouser and Double Pleated Tailored Trouser present signature STEL shapes, with a focus on creating the perfect balance between volume and length, replete with knee-pleats and waistband adjustability to self-tailor the perfect fit.
Andersen’s heritage as a Menswear designer manifests in a mindfully curated edit of coats and jackets. Precise tailoring, premium fabrics and technical finishes come with these versatile forever style staples, rounded with unique details including cropped and layered styles and adjustable ties. The Split-Length Denim Jacket showcases a modern sculptural shape featuring an elongated back and open side seams, complemented with the relaxed Glossy Trench Coat, crafted in a glossy yet technical water-repellent material for a fluid fit and fresh, easy-wear wardrobe addition.
Accessories are centered around intuitive powerful design for a fresh classic-cool blend.
